After her parents die in a tragic accident, Annabelle Winters is forced to move thousands of miles away to live with her last living relative, her uncle, Alexander Winters. Upon arriving in the crumbling ghost town, grief still weighs heavy on her heart. To hide that grief, she pretends to be void of emotions and makes herself emotionally unavailable to anyone that reaches out to her. Constantly at war with herself, she struggles to identify whether or not her visions are real, or a figment of her imagination. When she learns about her true heritage, and what she truly is, her life becomes even more complicated. Her plans to finish her last year of high school with her head down are ruined as she witnesses a number of gruesome sights, and gains the reputation of the infamous Huntress. Struggling with what she believes to be morally correct, and what she is told to do, she further rejects the rules made by her societal leaders when she meets Makena and Jaxon, two Creaturae that attend the same high school as her. Before them, she thought that love wasn't possible when every step she took could be her last. Peace certainly wasn't possible when creatures of darkness were hell bent on making every moment of her life torturous. Happiness wasn't possible when the fate of mankind loomed over her head and created a shroud of loneliness that weighed on her shoulders. The nightmares and visions followed her throughout the day, and her life was filled with nothing but gruesome sights, but somehow the newly formed relationships made everything bearable. She begins to feel human in an inhuman world, and discovers that her choice to follow the path of good or evil will determine if the world falls into chaos. ~~~ Note ** Book cover is a product of DaVinci © 2024 Kelaiah Delgado Diaz, All Rights Reserved.
