The 16-year-old Teresa lives with her abusive father. After a decade Teresa's mother shows up and takes custody of her.
The last thing Teresa wants is to stay with the woman who abandoned her, but her father can't afford a lawsuit. So her father hooks her up with Tobias, a young rich man, who she is supposed to marry. But the young girl's heart falls in love with the neighbour's boy Thomas.
She doesn't know which will she is supposed to sacrifice or suffer through. If she chooses Thomas, she loses her only home and parent that ever loved her, if she decides to marry and stay with her father, she will fail to think of her purpose of life.
