Everyday Heroes takes place in a world where some people secretly have superpowers and fight against villains. The story follows a group of teenagers who are training to become heroes, learning to control their powers while also dealing with the everyday struggles of being a teen. Kiera is the main character, but the story also focuses on the challenges faced by the other characters as they discover that being a hero isn't just about their powers, but about overcoming their own personal battles.
Trigger Warning:
This story covers sensitive topics, including mental health issues like anorexia, trauma/PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, anger disorders, and anxiety. It also talks about physical illnesses and contains graphic scenes of abuse and self-harm. I've put effort into researching these topics to make them as realistic as possible, but I may not get everything exactly right. This story is fictional and for entertainment purposes. I mean no disrespect to anyone when writing this.

Every city has its claim to fame and for the city of Cytropolis it's their superheroes. But unlike the cities of Gotham and Central City, this isn't a good thing. Cytropolis is known far and wide as the city with the clumsiest and least influential superheroes ever. But it never mattered that much since the super villains were just as bad. That is, until recently when the villains decided to smarten up and open a super villain academy to train the newest generation (something that never occurred to the heroes). Luckily for them, Matt Miller has arrived. He may seem like an average, normal (even bordering on boring) seventeen-year-old boy, but when are things ever what they seem? He may be apathetic and bitter but he has super powers and he's kind of, well, powerful. He's the heroes only hope against the newest villain in town, Sinister Shadow, and he has no choice but to lend a hand (but he refuses to wear tights while he does it, he draws the line at tights). At fifteen, he's got more important things to do than fight the infamous Vinicus Cauldwell. With his single mother having recently lost her job, Max is determined to help his family get back up on its feet. The publicity and pressure that comes with being a superhero would be too much to handle right now. But it's hard to fly under the radar, when you can literally fly. Meanwhile, Vinicus Cauldwell enjoys the power he has as Murkbourne's most feared super-villain. For once, he can sit back and relax without being pestered by the police. That is, until Max arrives. Vinicus isn't happy about having to fight a child, but he can't let Max find out. After all, super-villains can't be "good people"... Can they? We can't all be born heroes. I should be dead. At least, that's what the government officials told me in the super-secret lab where I woke up strapped to a mattress in a windowless room...Sound problematic to anyone else? Like I told the psychos experimenting on me, I've got zero clue how I got my new powers, but I'm sure-as-shit not going to let them turn me into a deadly weapon (or squeeze me into a spangly jumpsuit). This original story draws inspiration from my childhood and teenage experiences. It also draws inspiration from media I'd enjoyed when I was younger. This is Chapter 1. The Beginning. On his first day in his new school, fifteen year old Maximillian Hunter finds out that he's not as alone as he'd earlier thought. Between managing a secret lair and making sure your mom doesn't stop loving you because you keep telling everyone she's dead, it's a really hard business to be good at? Add to that, the fact that somehow you got arrested because your cat sitter didn't take the day off and then you go around expressing your unconditional love for pancakes in a Super holding cell because technically they can't put you in a proper prison and you don't really have a choice because lawyers are expensive? And then, you realise your best friend is plotting go take over your spot as the greatest villain there ever was? Okay, maybe not the greatest, but you do come pretty close to it! To top it off, there's that one Superhero who's just so completely gorgeous, you couldn't imagine any harm coming to them? Because they're just that precious? I guess that makes me a Supervillain with minor time travel superpowers and a huge crush on a not so powerful Superhero? And all you have to do is protect yourself and everyone you love from your ex best friend/sidekick --because let's face it that's the highest level of praise for a wretched traitor here--and you also have to get out of Super Holding somehow?
