Story Summary: After travelling together for the first several months of the outbreak, Oliver and his brother are violently separated and he is forced to survive alone until a pair of strangers come upon him in a candy store. Over time, despite the unkind world, Oliver is raised by kind people. They build homes and lose them, gaining new enemies and allies alike, and all the while Oliver grows from a quiet lonely boy to a capable grown man, whose only goal in life is to take care of his found family, no matter the cost. Sometimes, however, the cost comes too great.
