--- Emma's POV "Marcus, please! I love you," I mocked in a high-pitched voice, imitating Charlotte. She was so desperate it was almost laughable. "She has no dignity," Vivanna added with a smirk. "Always throwing herself at boys." I didn't argue-why would I? Charlotte Baker was the bane of my existence. She stole everything from me: my boyfriend, my best friend, and pretty much my entire life. I still remember one time after running laps on the field-I'm a crazy good athlete, by the way-I was cooling down in the girls' locker room, humming a tune. Singing was my secret talent, one I never shared with anyone. I didn't realize I wasn't alone until I caught Charlotte recording me on her phone. "What the hell are you doing?" I screamed, but she just laughed and bolted out of the locker room. Instinct took over, and I chased her, not even thinking. Before I knew it, we had stumbled onto the track. That's when it happened. I got hit-no, not by God himself (even though it felt like that). I collided with someone so hard I couldn't even react before my vision went black. --- Leo's POV "What were you thinking, Charlotte? Why are you such a... such a brat?" I snapped at my sister. "Why do you always hate me, Leo?" she spat back. "At least try to see things from my-" Her whiny defense was cut short when Emma walked in. She looked pale, small, and so heartbreakingly innocent. My chest tightened, and for the first time, I couldn't stop staring. I'd fallen for her, hard. But my sister? Oh no, Charlotte couldn't stand her, and I couldn't understand why. "Emma, are you okay?" I asked gently. She gave me a puzzled look but nodded hesitantly. Charlotte huffed and stomped out of the room, clearly annoyed. Typical. --- Two Months Later Emma's POV "Leo? What is going on?" My voice cracked, my chest heaving. Tears streamed down my face, and I hated myself for being so weak . I will never love again 💔 .
