He ran until the fire was put out and he was away from everyone. Fearing that everyone saw him as a monster or freak, he left and began to live on his own. His own family soon thinking he was dead after not being able to find any signs of him. 4 years pass before his family would even know he's alive but also the key piece in both Ozpin and Salems plans to save/destroy the world.
