Taking the risk, she operated and can't tell if he can ever walk again. She loves him, and he lies waste in front of her. A gangster, but she loved him. And if he can ever walk again, there's a whole gang out there waiting for him to show up, and to kill him. But she was taught by him - just in case, if anything befell him - how to fight, how to shoot, how to combat, and how to deal and double-deal the gangsters. She understands the politics of the underworld. So, she refused his wish to die and promised him that she would destroy every gangster who are hell bent on killing him. She would kill them all, and after that they could marry and live happily ever after.
