(A Percy Jackson Story) Being betrayed has its flaws. Being betrayed has its upsides. Being betrayed brings unwanted emotions. Being betrayed makes things so much clearer. But I was never betrayed. It's odd, really. I was never truly betrayed, and I saw that. The gloss in people's eyes, the way they seem to always be fighting an internal war, trying to win. The way they seemed to always want to blurt something out, but not being able to. The horror behind the words they said. But yet, I felt so betrayed and so neglected, yet I did nothing. I felt everything was a lie, but yet the truth. I felt like everything was so bad, yet everything was better that way. Now, this, is the feeling of being betrayed by your family. You can't help but wonder if everything was true, and then you keep insisting that it was. Because you can't let go. Because you can't help but feel connected to something that isn't true. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
