my mom got this idea stuck in my head and i’ve been romanticizing it all day.

imagine: you live an apartment in Florence, Italy. it’s small, but it’s clean and the views are to die for. there are plants and flowers everywhere and paintings hanging on every wall. you throw the windows open every morning and have coffee on your balcony overlooking the city, whilst listening to an old vinyl softly in the background. you make yourself a fresh breakfast with things you bought at the weekly farmer’s market in the closest plaza. you bike to work since it’s a warm day, a small coffee shop on a corner where your co-workers are your friends. you like to hang out on days when you’re not working. sometimes you go out and take painting classes in the plaza. sometimes you wander around the vineyards and watch the sunset. sometimes, one takes you back to meet their nonna, who teaches you how to make pasta from scratch and feeds you the best dinner of your life. you get back to your apartment and the nights are cool. you curl up on your sofa under a nice throw and read a good book, another vinyl playing in the background. you go to bed once you’ve said goodnight to the moon. life is good.

HONESTLY UGH i am so stupid...

I'm writing chapter 12, right, and there's a cute scene that i'm REALLY FEELING, you know? But my brain was like haha let's not have anything to do with writing right now and you know what???? since you're going to Florida in two weeks, why don't you work on your beach bod and go for a run???? AND ME BEING ME WAS LIKE YEAH, BRAIN, LET'S RUN EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN'T EVER RUN FOR FUN BEFORE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

needless to say, i made it halfway to where i was supposed to get to in five minutes and now i'm home, crying on the couch because i'm so out of shape...

oh, and "where I was supposed to get to" was down the street and to the cul-de-sac....... Jesus help me

ALSO: Lemme just point out here...

Draft 5 (the one that was published prior to the rewrite) is, in Google Docs, 135 pages, 49,665 words, and 18 chapters.

Draft 8 (the rewrite) is currently 107 pages, 38,399 words, and 10 chapters.

I’m sitting here like holy hell, wHEN DID SHE GET SO BIG!?!? highkey loving it though, my baby is growing!

Oh, and just because I can and I’m super proud of this, for reference of how much has been added: Chapter 7 of Draft 5 is what happens in Chapter 10 of Draft 8, so I added like an extra three chapters worth of events. Also, by the time Draft 8 is done, For King and Country will have gone from an 18 chapter book to a 23/24 chapter book. So yeah *finger guns* look forward to that!
