when i had first heard the name of an shiraishi’s fifth focus event, a title that had met my ears nearly a year ago, i had been shocked by the rather peculiar english translation of the moniker: “whip the wimp girl!!” it was one that had confused me for days upon days, for whatever could be its meaning? i had watched the event with a heavy heart as the two fanon girlfriends fought tooth-and-nail in an impassioned singing battle, yet still could not make much of a connection between the story and the title that left me, and many other, incredulous. nevertheless, the odd title grew on me, and soon i was awaiting the day when “whip the wimp girl!!” would make it’s arrival onto the global servers, where i currently reside in the game. however, my hopes were quickly exterminated as the ominous bells seemed to toll their hated tune once again. i heard the leaders of sega jeering at me from above as the new title was announced, the new name that the event would be reborn under.
“whip yourself into shape!”
now, don’t get me wrong, “whip the wimp girl!!” is a strange title, and my first reaction to it was a visceral confusion, but i was beyond shocked at the new name.
