Rital ⋆

They told me
            that I am loved by everyone,
            that I am the companion of the soul,
            a butterfly in the home.
            That I have a beautiful smile,
            and when people see your face, they see goodness.
            A presence that brings comfort.
            A person might tell you
            many things.

If I were among a hundred beautiful people, I would see
            only my own reflection.
            And among a hundred successful people, I would think only of
            my own path.
            I am not racing anyone except myself.

As if in my chest there is a graveyard
            of voices,
            all of them calling me by a name I do not know.
            I walk within myself like a stranger through
            thick smoke,
            searching for my features between longing
            and forgetfulness.
            And when I arrive, I discover that I had been following a mirage
            that resembles me.
