Like ik you can make em dashes on you’re own but I literally never saw them until ai popped up
Like any book I read only ever had this kind of dash “-“ it was never super long like em dashes “ — “
Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly idk

everyone uses em dashes as an add-on or to emphasize, but how often its used is usually more of a telltale sign with ai.

I use them when someone changed what they are saying mid sentence or never finished what they say
