@7s2live 》 " pleasure , i ' m aevik . " he tells them , glancing back at them just once as they continue on their journey . he walks like he ' s done this a million times , like the cold doesn't affect him one bit .

The snow crunches under their ill—prepared shoes, it bites at their already sore feet. Their mind wanders to trying to keep themself warm, though it is useless on their end. “Walked.” Alaric doesn’t mean to be so clipped in their responses; the cold makes it hard to concentrate.

Moments later, they speak again, as the feeling of guilt for their short answer takes over. “Are you from around here?” A simple question, something to try and get some more information out of the other. “Oh—I’m Alaric, by the way. Forgive me, the cold isn’t doing well for my brain and I forgot to introduce myself.”

" well , how ' d you end up so far away, stranger ? " he didn ' t often make small talk , but if he were walking them to the city , he ' d rather not walk it in silence for an hour .

Despite the yearning to be left alone, Alaric listens with careful consideration on how the stranger would feel if there was a clear display of blatant disrespect. This was his life, told through a simple conversation the two had. Coin is coin, that Alaric knew all too well.

They answered with small hums, to let the man know that they were still listening. Alaric dare not to interrupt, rather waiting for their turn to answer with patience. A virtue not many had in this lifetime. “Conforming to something? I can understand that. I wish to be myself, and not fit in a small box of what others expect from me. Though, that is the reason why I am here now.” The last part is half whispered, a look of sorrow briefly touches their face; it’s gone before he could ask what they meant by their words. “You are wonderful at what you do, may I add.”

ozias hadn’t always felt that sense of belonging , of feeling right at home elsewhere . even now he still drifted from place to place , never really lingering long . it felt freeing as it felt isolating , but he’d prefer this life rather than go back on his hands and knees pleading to unforgiving parents and brothers . the humble musician shook off the thought , appearing as relaxed on the outside as his mind tended to wander . “ i tend to do that quite a lot believe it or not . trouble tends to follow me it is , although i will try my utmost best as to not befall the same type of ordeal onto you . but if i may be honest for a moment.. ” he pursed his lips for a moment before speaking again . “ even i feel as though i tend to not belong . yet i despise conforming , been there . done that . ”

Confidence exudes from the man, a far contrast from their own anxious nature. This is his natural environment, amplified by the way he speaks of the place as if he lived there. A bit of jealousy bubbles in their chest, to feel as sated as him in such a place, a place of belonging.

Regardless of their feelings, their expression remains unchanged; stoic, a measly attempt at pushing their actual thoughts down. “You seem to fit right in. I fear I’m sticking out in a place like this. Drawing the wrong type of attention to myself …. I’d rather blend in.” Clearly their attempts to blend could have been better, considering the company they had just attracted.

“ Ah , then I should make you a larger meal , yes ? ” she said with a smile. “ I have some vegetables as well — I’ll toss those in. It should be plenty. ” She reached for the ladle and stirred the meat simmering in the pot. Normally , she would’ve cooked it over an open flame , but this time she’d decided to mix the cut pieces with vegetables instead.

“ Here , have this to snack on , ” she added , handing over a carrot.

As the other spoke , she hummed softly and shook her head. “ Most people here aren’t very kind. It’s a different world when you’re not a nord — there’s a lot of discrimination. Still , not everyone is like that. You’ll meet good people eventually; you just have to look hard enough. ” She let out a quiet scoff. “ It’s a cruel world , but one that could change if we were all a bit kinder to one another . . . though I doubt that’ll ever truly happen. ”

It was hard to deny the hunger that plagued their stomach as a low, growl answers the question. Their face flushed pink at the noise, embarrassed at how long it’s been since their last meal. Regardless, they still look on with wariness.

“I do—eat meat. Been awhile. I’ve mostly been foraging for food and making do with what I packed. The journeys been longer than one would expect.” Their words are quiet, eyeing the meat as if it were their personal saviour. “You are one of the few kindest I have met on my journey. Not often are people open to sharing what they have with others.”

“ It matters not whether we be strangers or kin — I welcome all with open arms. I cannot abide seeing others suffer in the cold , nor go hungry , especially those I deem worthy of life , ” she said , offering a warm smile. K’Dari was usually cautious around most people here , but she always tried to act with kindness.

“ I can tell when one bears ill intent , when malice festers in the heart , ” she added , reaching for some uncooked venison. “ Do you eat meat ? ” the khajiit asked , setting the pieces into a pot hanging over the fire to roast.

High up on a mountain harken and his dragon mount rested in a cave. They had been flying far and long and needed a brief bit of relaxation. However the dragon picked up on a scent of someone coming close

▍ t͟.͟avi ; Thinking about an Alaric who genuinely loved their niece Orin, likely the only one who had a genuine heart towards her. At least until she grew older. Honestly, Alaric probably still holds some sentimentality over her, considering they were quite older than her when she was born. Sighs.

▍ t͟.͟avi ; Alaric and their family tree is so confusing, and so is their thoughts …

Bhaal, obviously discontent with their father, really wants nothing to do with him but constantly getting zapped back into submission does some things to their brain. Like, how do you try so hard to reject just to be beaten down, and reborn again, just to repeat a cycle ..

Sarevok, ugh. Really, really fucking hates Sarevok for everything that he has done. Would really prefer NOT to interact with their “brother”, but does not have much choice considering Orin was ….. his daughter

Helena, a victim, obviously, but she could not be saved in the end and it was hard for Alaric to find peace in her death, as well as not quite understanding why a mother would not protect her child . Though, they understand once they get far away from the cult

Orin, sweet Orin. Well, until she killed them to gain favour from Bhaal. Their hesitation to kill Orin because of memories of her at a young age is what gave her the upper hand in their fight. Foolishly believes that Orin spared them, and was not just sloppy in her work.

Durge…. I feel this is complicated because Durge likely came at an age where Alaric was also young. Similar in age one would think, based off of Orin and Gortash’s “predicated” age. I think the two got along, in some ways, maybe less as they grew older and it was clear one relished in the whole Bhaal cult, and the other didn’t.

▍ t͟.͟avi ; I like when I make characters that are ambiguous in their gender, like is Alaric man? Nay. Woman? No. A secret third thing? Yes! :]

For me, Aasimar’s are sort of like that, ambiguous in their appearances, long hair. I mean, they are celestial touched beings, it would be nice to see that it affects their appearances as well in a gender neutral way. Though, Alaric is a “fallen aasimar”.
