I already knew that it wasn't just kid's channels but all creators who would be affected by COPPA but I had no idea it would be this severe. Any channel marked for kids will lose the vast majority of the features that creators use to communicate with their viewers. Features such as:notifications, comments, the ability to mark for watch later or save to a playlist and much much more. They will also be losing the majority of their ad revenue which means that anyone who uses YouTube as their full time job will barely be getting paid for their hard work.
Please please go sign this petition to let the FTC know that yes, kids' information needs to be protected but this is not the way to do it. This will only drive actual kids channels away and leave behind content much too mature for kids to view.
