Last night, I went to a resto-bar to watch live bands perform, and for some reason, I forgot to bring my phone with me. The place was not spacey, but the vibe and ambience hooked me. The chairs and tables were made of wood, the lights were dim and yellowish, and there were also faux spider webs hanging in the ceilings to mimic the Halloween spirit. And then, I thought, if only I had my phone with me, I could have captured this place in all its rustic glory. When the bands started playing, I wish I could take out my phone and record the whole thing. But I couldn't.
And so, I sat there, phoneless, undistracted, and fully present. For the first time, I got to experience something without my phone. It was uncomfortable at first, but as the minutes ticked by, I got used to it. I let the loud music fill my ears and vibrate its way through my body. Everything seemed simple. I wasn't anxious to take the right picture or record the perfect video that I would post in my social media highlights. Maybe, this was the life of people back then when they didn't have phones.
I don't know. I'm just sharing this with you guys because I really felt differently about things last night. Last night made me think. I hope this post would do the same to you guys too.
