I stood outside the wooden door to my apartment with the key to unlock it in a shaky, open palm. Aside from the light noise the television produced in the living room, I heard nothing. A thought appeared in my mind, a dreadful thought. She might not be here... she left. I let out a shaky breath, pushing the key in to the door before hearing a familiar voice shout "Damn it!" as what I presume to be a plate crashing on the tile floor in the kitchen. When I entered the apartment, Allie stood up and met my gaze just to avoid it and continue to sweep up the casserole mess she had spilled. 
"I tried making dinner tonight..." She looked up shyly as she waved her palms at me. "But, I guess my butterfingers decided otherwise." I walked over to the counter, confused as I was, seeing the cooking mess she had made. Different seasonings, scraps of salmon, and puddles of sauces where riddled along the counter. Allie wrapped her arms around my shoulders and connected just below my neck. 
"Welcome home..." she whispered. I let out a shaky breath of relief that I didn't even know I had kept. 
"This doesn't mean I forgive you..." My heart dropped as she said this. With the cooking and the mess and the dog that crept behind us and licked the tile that she had spilled the dinner. 
"Yet..." She pulled me towards the couch and sat next to me. 
"For me to forgive you, you need to do three things. One..."
