This country criticizes us for simply living — whether documented or not — because we’re brown. They want to deport people for civil offenses equivalent to jaywalking, while a convicted felon and known racist still runs for office with full support. How is his crime viewed as a parking ticket, but honest, hardworking people are treated like criminals?

          	We are not all criminals.
And no — these protests are not violent. What the media shows doesn’t represent the peaceful movement happening on the streets.

They ask why we bring Mexican flags. I’ve heard people wearing MAGA hats ask if we’re “plants,” if we’re paid to be here. The answer is no.

We carry the flag because it’s part of our identity. Because our parents carried it with pride. Because our culture isn’t something we put down when it’s inconvenient — it’s part of our soul.

We march for our friends, our families, our neighbors. For the hardworking people living paycheck to paycheck. The people who pay taxes. The ones whose labor helps build this country and sustain its economy.

We’re not taking your jobs. Immigrants do the work many won’t. And let’s be honest — America won’t legalize people when it can exploit their labor and pay them less than minimum wage.

“Come here legally,” they say. But some people don’t have that luxury when their lives are on the line.

And now, even when people try to do things “the right way,” they’re still being deported. Children are being ripped from their parents. People are being taken off the streets. Even American-born citizens are being harassed — simply for being brown.

We’re being criminalized. Silenced. And our right to peacefully protest is being threatened — while the people who stormed the Capitol were barely held accountable.

Let’s call this what it is: racism.

@AuthornimJRose dear author... We are very sorry to hear this... We are from another country so we don't know the depth of the things that are going on now.... But as we are reading what you mentioned it is a very serious issue... I hope you "Remember to take care of yourself too. This is a marathon, not a sprint."

I know I’ve said I would write more frequently — and believe me, I’ve tried. But right now, my heart is incredibly heavy with what’s happening here in California, especially in Los Angeles with the ICE raids.

I’m a proud Mexican American, born and raised in L.A. My heart breaks for the people currently being persecuted for simply seeking a better life — for those who fought tooth and nail just to earn the bare minimum, and still love this country with everything they have.

My parents are Mexican. My blood, my roots, my soul — everything in me lives and breathes Mexican culture. I grew up waking to Cumbias, Fabuloso, and Amanda Miguel on Saturday mornings. But I also celebrate the Fourth of July. I embrace American culture because it’s part of me too. And yet, time and time again, this country tells people like me — people who don’t fit inside a narrow white box — that we don’t belong.

My experience as a person of color may be different, but that doesn’t make me any less American. It certainly doesn’t make me any less human.

          What’s happening right now isn’t just dehumanizing. It’s heartless. It’s racist. 1/2

@AuthornimJRose indeed i feel out for America as a whole countryc.sorry to say but Trump should be behind bars.Musk may be a genius on a entrepreneurship level but if you look at his backgroup ,it gets scary .I do not condemm those who seek a better life for their family but i do get the gist that it can annoy some people who seek to immigrate the lawful way and they get rejected and then those who get in illegally get everything.
every day I try and read the news around the world but it is so horrible when you read that grown men groomed pre teens or a girl was raped because she refused to give in to pressure or even parents who get their daughter kills because she was according to them bringing shame on them or even war that is going on in different parts of the world .
we humans are the biggest destructive race instead of nurturing what is given to us we destroy.
sorry for the rant have a nice weekend
