Writing is my second love, because reading was my very first. I started writing stories at 12. It was like I had way too many people with their own lives in my head and I had to put them on paper to set them free. Writing was also my sole therapy growing up. I wrote in countless diaries and journals over the years, filling pages and pages with teenage angst, kilig, and afterwards, the struggle for maturity and 'finding my place' in the world during my entire 20s. I wrote when I was sad, depressed, anxious, ecstatic. I wrote about what I wore and what I ate and how long the commute to school was. I happily explore every facet of the feminine mystique( I write with a feminine voice, although I don't consider myself very girly), the small town life, the things that happen to ordinary people with ordinary lives. I am curious about people and I am curious about life. I love Lualhati Bautista and her works. I love Rose Tan's silly little books. I get giddy and get serious about current issues and the human condition. I try not to be too profound for fear of being labeled a hipster. But I do long for depth in my writing and in what I talk about. I am still finding my voice through my stories. I believe that whatever wishes and dreams I have in my life, all I had to do was write about them and they will all come true. I wrote my very own fairy tale and it came true. :)
