Billie Mintz, founder of Innov8r,  is an award winning filmmaker who has produced and directed three feature length documentaries and several narrative short films. In college, Billie majored in Native Studies, then apprenticed with an Incan Shaman for three years. This experience inspired him to build The ARC Institute, a non-profit artist cooperative that assists charities and NGOs in carrying their stories into the public eye. For this, he was awarded Toronto’s Entrepreneur of the Year (2008) in social change.

Billie has directed numerous award-winning short films and commercials under his company, Imagin8r, that have been screened in over 40 international film festivals.

Represented by The National Speakers Bureau, Billie receives regular invitation as a lecturer at universities, colleges, government agencies and NGOs. He speaks of storytelling, social technocolleges, government agencies and NGOs. He speaks of storytelling, social technology and advocacy.

Billie has been commissioned to create workshops at film festivals and events across four continents, including: Buenos Aires, Argentina, Latvia, and Croatia.

Billie has dedicated his career to social justice, raising public consciousness, and advocating for those who have no voice. His belief in the power of story to inspire policy change is a driving force in his life as a filmmaker.

When not collecting stories of injustices Billie is the singer/songwriter and guitarist of the band, Billie Goats Gruff.
