Once upon a time, I liked to do creative things: drawing, painting, sculpting, writing, film making. But, as is often the case, life got in the way.
When the world completely went to hell in 2020, I found myself stuck at home, with a toddler, having left a job I had grown to loathe. And I needed an outlet. And, amongst other things, I started to write. Mostly kvetching, at least at first, followed by some nonsensical poetry, followed by some inane storytelling, before I made an accidental discovery.
I have always been into pop culture, and as a kid born in the '80's, I'm predisposed to loving action figures and their associated media. I stumbled across @DTG_Figures, an action figure customizer/designer/artist who was doing creative work largely uncoupled from existing IP and at an extraordinarily high level. When they started a Patreon, and began producing even more exotic content, I was hooked.
What I hadn't expected was the writing prompts that went along with each monthly design, nor that I would get over my introverted hang-ups and submit something. Those somethings have turned into over 125,000 words on our World Anvil site (as of April 2022), with over a dozen prose stories and a couple hundred articles, all pointing back to DTG's incredible design work and art. They range from self-contained in-universe equipment descriptions to full-on serialized stories, and they just keep coming. Plus, I've made an incredible friend along the way.
I started this WattPad as another way to get my writing and his designs out there into the world, as well as publish some of my other non-DTG related rantings.
