I just started a new work titled "Poems From the Heart." If you happen to be following me, please do read them and give me some feedback! I know I can't guarantee the same quality as Elysian, but it would be great to have others' thoughts on this new project :)
Hey, I read your story a while ago, but I just started reading Heroes of Olympus, and I learned that there are more than one river flowing through Hades. I looked it up and there are five: Styx, representing hatred; Lethe, representing forgetfulness; Acheron, representing misery; Phlegethon, representing fire; and Cocytus, representing wailing. (I'm sorry for the info dump) I was just curious if you chose the number of rivers in Elysian because of that.
That's real. Anyways, sorry about my nerdiness. I loved your story. I've given up on Keeper and this is the only story for it (including the actual books) that has made me like Sophie and actually think she's good enough for Keefe. So, I'm gonna pretend this is the actual ending to the series :)
@JuneHTaylor I haven't read that before, so that would be a nice coincidence. I wish I could give you an elaborate story for the origin story for the river structure but I feel like the most logical explanation is grinding too many geometry problems XD
Elysian was beautifully written and had me hooked!
Check out the new bonus Chapter 76! Sequel to Elysian at 100K reads?
Part 3 (WHY DID I WRITE SO MUCH ;-;) Of course Keefe didn’t figure much out in his time in the human world - that’s how KOTLC is, always having the protagonists take minor steps, wait around for things to happen, and then improvising wildly…it’s really unfortunate that they have little control and understanding of what they’re opposing.
Part 2: Adding Lord Cassius and Alvar completely ruined it for me. I supposed plot involvement is a passable excuse (otherwise the plot would dry up very quickly), but involving both of them was really distracting and unnecessary…most of the time, it made Keefe seem just more idiotic and reliant on others than anything else. A possible to adjust this could have been having Eleanor be Keefe’s friend while he was in the human world, and then doing a grand reveal at the end. (She also could have dyed her hair a different color as bright red is not ideal for being stealthy…) The ending chapter, “Everything,” felt forced and too similar to Sophie’s perspective (Chapter 42). I would have enjoyed more depictions of Keefe’s internal thoughts rather than the same third-person narration. Maybe I’m imagining it, but Keefe might just not be in touch with his own emotions throughout the story. Predictions: Alvar’s already had too much of the plot now…it will be nice to finally get rid of him. Eleanor will most certainly return and have some more involvement. She has limited potential due to being human (or a wildcard?), but a possible theory could be that she has untriggered abilities that can kick in somewhere. It would be really, really cool if she was actually Elysian’s long-lost granddaughter, but that might be a stretch. We obviously can’t be certain what abilities stellarlune can bring, which is why I struggled a lot writing Elysian. But a lot of it will likely involve Keefe’s ability to invoke abilities and Elysian’s ability to suppress them. Elysian doesn’t seem like she will be allied with Lady Gisela and likely will be an obstacle. Reflection on KOTLC as a whole: It’s disturbing how much intelligence Alvar has. And it’s not even Lady Gisela, who is on a completely different level. We should really consider the power dynamics here.
Part 1 (2000 character limit): I wish I had the time to write an entire essay about my thoughts...here are the main points that I have to say (I'm open to discussion!): General comments and critiques (and some of them are hot takes - feel free to agree/disagree): The cover art didn’t really fit in with the rest of the series. I think it should have a Lost Cities element (such as a pathfinder) to have the same “magical” quality to it. Eleanor/Olivia (I had originally thought of her as Olivia for some reason) surviving was really predictable - if that was the enormous discovery Keefe had during his “adventure,” it was really anticlimactic. Side note: Authors like Shannon Messenger (and myself) really don’t like killing off young, innocent girls. Ironically, after writing Elysian and thinking of some crazy plot ideas for a potential sequel (???), my mind had immediately turned to Eleanor in London. I had an entire story planned about survival, some unique abilities she would eventually obtain, and other wonderful things… ;-; I know a lot of people were eagerly awating Keefe’s middle name to be anounced, but I personally didn’t see why Too many food-related topics (as expected) There wasn’t much romance, which was appropriate I thought it was good that Shannon Messenger captured humanity in a good perspective by mentioning creative forms like art and music. I was very fond of this idea, as you can tell if you read Elysian. (I wanted Merida and Justin to prove that expression and talent can be found even with flashy abilities) [Controversial topic, read at your own discretion] It’s good that Alvar and Keefe were really open-minded and accepting about LGBTQ+ concepts. That’s awesome. However, some believe that the way she presented it was very forced. The series seems to be headed in the direction of “remove the matchmaking system” and “everyone can find love instead of genetic success,” and all of Keefe’s experiences in the human world furthered that.
Love the new theme <3 hru btw??
@InkstheticBookworm I'm doing pretty well, how are you? :D Also, this theme was from a few months ago; it's the same as the backdrop in Chapter 75!

The "Final Note and Acknowledgements" section of Elysian was completed, officially marking the end of this journey. Although there is no more storyline, I hope you will consider reading it and learn something significant. Thank you to these wonderful users (left in the replies below due to the maximum character amount) for sticking around to see an awkward, teenager complete their project and giving their support! Love you all :D
@CelestialMoonlight7 thanks so much!! absolutely loved the story and your beautiful writing. It takes a lot to create books and fanfics, so this is just amazing. I think you deserve every bit of praise for this story!!
You might not remember because it was quite a while ago but you signed up for my Cattle Dog competition Just wondering if you still want to be part of it or if should take you off the competitors list
@B1ana1sC00l I didn't receive any follow-up from all that time ago, but sure, I'd still like to participate.
