Sighhh
I’ve already been crossposting my fanfics on ao3, so that’s not the worst thing happening for me with Wattpad’s new.. choices
I’m concerned about my original stories or my oc content tho. I know it’s mostly just my friends that read it (which is super awesome don’t get me wrong) but I’m not sure what to do abt it because I love posting it. Original stories don’t do great on ao3, I don’t think.
Might start posting it on Quotev?
Maybe
I’m sad for Wattpad. Not for the people running it, no, they clearly suck. But kind of what it once was.
I arrived on this stupid little website during the quarantine, when I was hitting my lowest, when I had no motivation or passion or joy. Reading the stories and talking to the people here made me feel less alone, less alienated, less like the “other” I had been made out to be irl.
I finally found joy in writing, something I had hated before. I was able to expose all my nasty, terrible, horrible feelings from my depression and anxiety and bpd and trauma, and put into something I am proud of.
Though, honestly, if I had a second chance, knowing what I know, I wouldn’t have exposed so much of my life and my struggles and who I was and am on here. I have been hurt, I have been damaged not just from the real world but from things that happened on this website.
But I have made some of my most amazing and important friends on here. I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
So, I think I’m just disappointed because Wattpad is going to push out the people that made this website what it is. Not to “protect” anyone, as they so claim (it’s never to protect), but to be toothless for their advertisers.
I don’t know what I’m expecting to announce with this. I suppose just an update on where I’ll be posting and my thoughts. They don’t mean much expect to those who I’m close to, but they’re out.
Love you <3
