They fall from the flower in order to leave the hanging fruit in the air, ready to bring new life to the earth.

Petals. Nothing more than a form of summoning insects to the center of the flower in order to pollinate the host. They serve no real purpose other than the hidden rays they give off for bees to find them. They do not create life as the fruit does.

Yet, despite their shortcomings, we have decided to call them beautiful. If it weren't for the petals, the flower would have nothing to boast - only a mere shell of its potential. Humans have turned the petals into something more, and that I absorb with complete agreement.

The same goes for any form of art. Painting, dancing, building, writing - they are all unnecessary for survival, but, to some of us, we cannot survive without them. This art I weave between my fingers and through my soul is something I hold dearly, and to write such as I have now is what I will continue to do in order to uphold the beauty that we have recognized within these meager items and ideas.

My words will fall off like the petals of a flower to reveal the stem of our continued trek in life. There is no need to remember the words themselves just as the petals will disintegrate back into dirt, but what the words will expose either outside of or within you will affect you just as much as the flower can spread to many other blossoms.

This is why I write.
