Sometimes when I sit down to write I remember something my friend said, "Never be afraid to let your brain explode onto the page". 

So I do just that. I let my brain explode in a mess of colorful hot passion all over the page. 

The real work though, is refining that mess. reshaping it and sculpting it into something beautiful. It takes some skill, a lot of time, even more patience, but mostly determination. 

Story ideas are like a newly found diamonds. It may take you a while to find it and once you do it's rough, has jagged edges and it's not all that pretty. Remember that diamonds don't come out of the ground beautiful, you have to make them beautiful. It's going to take skill, time, patience and determination to refine that diamond. 

But once you find that diamond, that single story idea, don't be afraid to let your brain explode onto the page, than start making that diamond into something beautiful.
