hello readers,
My name is Dalis James Bunch and I am both a poet and a writer, a hypocrite with integrity, an insecure, humble and cocky son of a (_____), a dancer with 2 left feet, a closet emo who is very open, a pacifist and a warrior, a bard with no memory left for songs, a great liar with no poker face, a strategic and absent minded individual who is a lazy workaholic, and a downright hilarious person who can only tell dad jokes, but above all else I pride myself on storytelling.
If I can manage to infect one soul with any raw emotion then I will go to the grave a happy (if not complex) man.
Poetry started as something a story of mine needed (Bard of Lost Waters), as it was about a bard. Before I finished the Bard's poem, I would have told you poetry was lame (Rap excluded). Halfway through the Bard's poem, I was absorbed in Viking prose and kennings (phrases like flesh-bitter and wound-hoe, sword and axe). I also appreciated the calmer modern poetry, but myths, legends and ghost stories will always draw me back.
Writing came about as soon as I became an adult and realized I had no life goals. I remembered my love of fantasy (Tolkien, Eregon, and Shannarra) so I sat down behind a computer and wrote a viscous Hell-scape where a young girl learned to take Death's place. ...Yeah, not exactly as planned, but I have managed to put the fantasy back into my stories, after ten years of practice and world builder's syndrome, as the Doc calls it. The little girl who becomes Death is still on my mind.
A hypocrite with integrity, because I am a writer. Criticism and all that.
Being a Closet Emo is easy to explain; I sit in dark corners with lanterns and darker books, but I'm open about that nowadays.
I have played guitar before, but I cannot seem to keep from breaking that last string like some down-trotten desperado, or that mouse with the cowboy hat from Tom and Jerry.
The humility, cockiness, and strange dance moves I attribute to Karate.
The rest, Idk.
