For over 25 years, Dann served as Senior Editor for Art & Understanding magazine, a national monthly that was devoted to the art and culture of people affected by AIDS.   The magazine closed due to the death of 2 CEOs.

Dann's responsibility was entertainment and travel.  He  interviewed more than 300 notables that included Dustin Hoffman, Maya Angelou, Elizabeth Taylor, Whoopi Goldberg, Gloria Estefan, Queen Latifah, Julie Andrews, Shirley MacLaine, Susan Sarandon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Deepak Chopra, & Carlos Santana.  

Besides A&U Magazine, Dann's articles have appeared in many national publications that include, In Touch, Q San Francisco, Filipinas, Working World, In Los Angeles, and Gay Travel News. His Danny Glover interview "A Man of Words:  A Man of Action" is included in Human Sexuality published by McGraw-Hill, and  an excerpt of Dann's interview with Connie Francis appears in Alan Hall's book, "Resting In Peace Is Optional.

Dann has written three books: 
"Life Take One"  --a men's health and lifestyle resource
"Straight Out" -- profiles of gay heroes 
"Facing The Fight (Celebrities Against AIDS)" --  co-authored with Dale Reynolds.  

Dann has also co-written a television sitcom with Kelly Danyluk called, "Under One Roof," and together they had a beloved show called "In Bed With Dann & Kelly," interviewing celebrities in bed.

Dann holds a Masters of Science degree in counseling from California State University Northridge, and a Bachelor of Arts in performing arts from American University, Washington D.C.  He also attended Ohio State University, Columbus; Ohio University, Lancaster; and Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.  

As an MFT intern, Dann provided psychotherapy in various facilities around the Los Angeles area in the 90s, especially supporting those with AIDS.
