If you're writing books, here is a few tips I've learned myself!

1) Pick your point of view.
Theirs four point of views you can chose to write a story! (Long or short)
First person, third person omniscient, Mutiple narrators, and third person limited.
2) Plan out your story, by brainstorming. (Exposition, rising action, Climax, Falling action, and the ending.)
Plan out your story from beginning to end, it will give you a view on your characters and how to follow the story without getting mixed up!
3) Writer Techniques
There's a lot of writer techniques, but there's plenty to choose from too!
For example, let's say a Simile. "As fast as a cheetah."
Its comparing to different things together. :>
4) Let's write!
Another thing you should use is figurative language, a quirky personality, and a detailed setting.
F.L: "He felt like thousands of bricks falling onto him." (If this were real, you'd be dead. Let's face it.)
Q.P: "He loved to help; it pleased him like Ice cream on a summer day."
D.S: "The wheat in the fields swayed in the blowing wind like ocean waves."

You should also use a Thesaurus; it will give you a synonym on simple words, for example, Love. (Adore, delight, crush, piety, lust, affection etc.. Are great examples! :D)

Now, your still not ready to write, practice these skills and your grammar, and soon enough, you'll become a narrator!! :)
