A steamy mafia romance Jilted by the Mafia will start this Friday, January 16th. It is the 4th book in the L.A. Lawless series, and a bit more on the drama than action side than the first 3. The story can be read stand-alone, but it has cool call backs to various characters in the first three books, so chose your own adventure.

Happy holidays! The last chapter of my Inkitt project (Beta is for Breeding) had just been posted and fa-la-la-loaded. As always, I was aiming for 40K words, ended up with 82K words. I'm on a writing break now as my strategy for a happy, healthy writing routine. Will talk about my next project in the New Year, but if you haven't read my L.A. Lawless series, it's great for a winter break, and... well, my lips I sealed. Fa-la-la-la!

I had this delightful story bookmarked for a while, and now that I take a healthier approach to online writing I was able to finish it. It enters my Completed and LOVED list, with its gorgeous writing and the world with both conflict and heart. Amazing read from the first page to the last.

My first happy smile of the day: Champion in Love has crossed 7K reads. It wasn't just the story that wrote itself, it also re-wrote itself., and it wants to be rewritten again. It also has a distinction of being my only story that my mother liked -- which, trust me, deserves a badge of honor. Anyway, I'm smiling as I write this. Have a lovely time of day, wherever you are.

RIP Sophie Kinsella. She is an inspiration to us all.

@DomiSotto I know, right? So tragic. She'd been sick for a while, and she even wrote a book about it.

Burnout, FOMO and imposter syndrome slowly releasing their grip on me. This trinity is a monster to fight, I tell ya. Actually, chances are I don't have to tell ya. It took me the entire summer and fall to cut out obligations and frustrations, but I am tentatively settling in a better life as an online writer. I feel hopeful that the new year will see me writing something beyond smut and also that I'll be able to handle failure of beloved projects better. Embrace December and brace for it!

@DomiSotto You're right, you don't have to tell me. I am intimately familiar with all of them. It's so hard to balance everything. I hope you find a way that works for you <3

November is becoming my least favorite month in the year. It used to be just NaNo, now every place online seems to ape the 50K words in November writing 'challenge'. The emphasis on word count above all and the idea one could finish a novel in one month is contrary to everything I feel as a writer. This annual calendar grind is not the same as pouring words on the page when the long-loved story flows from the heart. Still, I wish everyone luck if they are participating.

@DomiSotto I like the challenge one of our fellow Wacky Writers came up with! Basically just a commitment to yourself that you will get whatever you want done within the space of a month. No publishing, no pressure. I wanna finish a WIP by the end of November, and I'm hoping this will help me stay motivated!

@DomiSotto So well said! Churning out words is not the same as actually crafting a story. I've tried it and realized it wasn't for me, because I was forced to write words when I had none in me (and those words were not good).
