Just a head's up that The Gathering (Part One of Gift of the Phoenix) will be coming down from Wattpad soon. Gift of the Phoenix and its sequel, The Lost Branch, will be joining Amazon's Kindle Unlimited program. If you're a member, that's a great way to find out what happens next. If not, and you haven't finished The Gathering yet, you have a bit of time to finish up before I take it down. Thanks to ALL of you for reading, following, and for your support. :)

@ClumsilyDancing Hi! Thanks for reaching out. The best thing you can do is practice, practice, practice, and read like a writer. I heard this so much when I was a young, aspiring writer and didn't pay it near enough attention. Be diligent about your growth. Read and write as much as you can. Read lots of books on craft. :) Try the Writer's Digest series of books for a good overview of the basics. Other writing books I like: Stephen King On Writing, Stein on Writing, Writing the Breakout Novel, and Story Grid. There are sooo many. Don't take any one book as gospel, but read many and you'll learn a lot. Also, don't forget to have fun! :) Good luck!

The entire story of Gift of the Phoenix is on sale at Amazon for only 99 cents. It's normally 6.99. Part One is free here on Wattpad, but if you want to read the rest of the story (parts two and three), you can get it pretty cheap right now over there. Thanks for everyone who's read Part One here and voted and left great comments! :) https://www.amazon.com/Gift-Phoenix-Realm-Book-ebook/dp/B009ERRF5I

@supernatural_jelsa Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed it! I'm not sure when I'll have part two up. I'll send a message out to my followers when I do. In the meantime, the entire book (parts 1, 2, and 3) are sold together in one volume (The Gift of the Phoenix). The price was 6.99 but is temporarily dropped to 0.99. So it's a good deal if you're interested. :) Thanks again for reading!

@ali_queenofcraziness Ah, thank you so much for reading! I'm happy you enjoyed the story. :) Maybe your mom will get it for you if you do good on your exam. ;) That's great that you want to be an author! Keep writing. When you're young, the best thing you can do is practice, practice, practice. We all start right where you are. :) I'm not into the Percy Jackson series, but I love The Hunger Games. The opening chapters are great for writers to study. She does an excellent job. Thanks again for reading, and for your comments. Good luck with your writing! :)

@DAYDREAMERDIARIST Hi! Thanks so much for the note! I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far. :) As both an author and an editor, I get asked this question a lot. I've put together a resources page on my website with my favorites. They're all well worth checking out. http://donnacookeditor.com/resources/ If you're young and/or new to writing, the very best thing you can do is write a lot and read a lot. Read good books and see if you can figure out why they work. What is the author doing to pull you in, or tell you about a character, or make a place seem real to you? It takes a LOT of practice and study to become a good novelist, so be patient with yourself as you learn. And have fun with it! Good luck, and thanks again for reading!
