I am from the ocean air
Cool and damp, humidity all but nonexistent
I am from the pea pods
The peeling birch tree whose limbs I remember as if they were my own.

I am from Valor and Honor
I am from Myers and Motschenbacher
I am from the few, the proud, and the army strong
I am from mechanics and crafts

I am from sovereignty and selfless service
And "a ray of light in the moon dance"
I am from military service
I am from Ft. Hood, Tx. and eastern Germany

From taco soup and shepherds pie
I am from drastically changing almost beyond recognition at graduation 
And the "walrus mustache" hanging stiffly from my uncle's face
In heart and mind, never to be forgotten for years to come
I am from tradition and service to intelligence and art 

Beyond lies a wandering path of new experiences and possibilities
