This latest chapter marks a stark break in the present action. As I have written TLL, I have had a nagging feeling. My whole goal is to recreate a FromSoftware title in book form. Here's what I know about FromSoftware titles:
- They tell you a lot about their worlds.
- They don't organize that information for you whatsoever.
- They are masters of making a small world feel gigantic.
- They really allow for different builds to be viable.
- Your NPC companions have as mysterious of Backgrounds as you do.
What I know about writing stories:
- I cannot rely on excellent fighting mechanics to entertain during stretches of world-building narrative.
- Books can't offer multiple save files, allowing the audience to experience the full breadth of mechanics.
- Books can have many protagonists.
What I know about The Last Lowlander:
- We are just getting started.
- I have payoffs planned for all this build-up.
- You're going to love them!
Best,
Dylan Davis
