I haven't changed my bio since I made the account, but because of censoring, I've had to back up a lot on my account. AND since I am LIVID about this, here's how to use AO3 properly:
1. Go to AO3
2. Leave Wattpad in the dust and tell it to get fucked
3. Can you tell I'm annoyed?
4. Click "search" (not the one with the search bar)
5. Click "works"
Here, you will see a lot of options, and it may be overwhelming, but I promise it's not bad at all.
Here are a few tips:
- Choose the RATING you want to read. IF you leave it blank, explicit content will ABSOLUTELY show up. THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE AO3 IS NON-CENSORING. PERIOD. (Unlike SOME people). You will see things you'll probably wish you'd never seen. SO PLEASE, update your preferences to not show that OR just keep scrolling.

- Person/Person is ROMANTIC or SEXUAL
- Person&Person is FAMILIAL OR PLATONIC

You can use the above information in the "Relationships" section of the search.

- Additional tags are most useful if you know you're looking for something specific. (Ex. Alternate Universe, Vampires, something kinky)

And to finish this off, the most IMPORTANT PART- a quote from a post by @thewaywardmillennial on Tumblr:

"And for readers, remember our cardinal rule: DON'T LIKE, DON'T READ.

This means you are responsible for what you decide to look at on the archive. Learn what things like Dead Dove: Do Not Eat means. You do not get to harass or report a creator for posting something you personally dislike or disagree with. You can also block or mute an archive user if you dislike what they post.

AO3 is a non-profit run by volunteers who read all reports of works possibly breaking TOS. You aren't harming a large corporation by reporting every work you dislike. Simply click away and move on. Instead, you can filter things out using the "Exclude" section of the filters that's on the right-hand side of all pages of fanworks."

One last thing- buckle up bc it's nearly Kinktober.
