Helloooo wonderful people!
It has been a very busy and exam filled year and a half (omg I'm so sorry) but I am finally running into enough free time to start writing again! I want to push myself, so I'm considering publishing the first few chapters of one of my more original stories, and seeing if they manage to garner any interest. I know, however, that if you followed me you did so because of my fanfiction (percy jackson no mist aus, if ur trying to place me), and not my original writing, so you may not be interested in a complete change of writing.
The story I'm thinking of publishing isn't overly dissimilar, in terms of genre, from that of Percy Jackson (isolated, modernised, battle-training academy) but leans more into elemental magic and combining traditional fighting skills with modern technology. Even so, it's quite a step away from simple, no-mist, dialogue-based stories I've written in the past, so I wanted to know whether it would appeal to my current audience. Let me know your thoughts in the replies (anywhere from a thumbs up to a paragraph on why its a truly awful idea) and I'll judge whether or not to go ahead based on that.
          	Love you all,
          	The Bibliophile

The official casting for Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood has just been announced. Both are POC actors, and while Grover’s actor has been widely accepted by the fandom, Annabeth’s actress has not.
Annabeth Chase will be played by 12-year-old Leah Sava Jeffries, a black American actress. This casting choice is somewhat controversial, as historically Annabeth has been portrayed, in official art, fanart and the movies-that-shall-not-be-named, as white.
To understand why this change may prove to be an issue, you have to understand Annabeth’s character. It’s not as simple as ‘but she has to be blonde because that’s how I imagine her’ as some have assumed, a problem which could be solved with a wig or hair dye. Annabeth looks the part of your stereotypical bimbo. She’s a tall, blonde, tan Cali girl, the only exception to this rule being her piercing grey eyes. This stereotype is one that has plagued her since childhood and is the reason why she feels the need to prove herself, prove her intelligence and worth, and turns out to be her deadly flaw of hubris. So it’s fair to say that it’s pretty important to her as a character.

@silas_ronan I was agreeing with them? And I specifically said that it wasn't about the actress herself, the response was simply reaffirming that. Please do add to the conversation if you have thoughts, as it is an interesting ethical debate if nothing else. And an update of WTWCC is on its way

@EternalBibliophile yeah, just write six total paragraphs detailing the casting of the new Percy Jackson show, and then reply to a two-paragraph comment with two words
