@Evan_Is_High to my understanding, they are getting rid of TikTok not solely because it is owned by china—they’re getting rid of it because china is apparently using it as a form of soft warfare, to which I have no opinion on.
The line of thinking is that China is manipulating users’ recommended videos, making videos praising not having children go viral and contributing to the population crisis. (This is just one example.)
It’s ingenious, really. People are easily manipulated, and when you have full control over a massive social media platform, you can make the users (who conveniently all live in an enemy country) do whatever you want without declaring war.
When it comes to games like Genshin, which are fictional and have much less quote unquote “freedom” to go outside the constraints of the game mechanics, they should be safe. Not to mention, many more people consistently use social media like TikTok rather than genshin.
CapCut is probably next to be banned as well—it’s literally just TikTok, but for creators. I used AI expand on one of my drawings, and the AI expanded to show my entire digital sketchbook, with the surrounding images accurately drawn and in the correct order and orientation. I know for a fact CapCut accesses more of or personal info than they say.
