In writing, the author creates characters himself according to his own likes and dislikes. It's a piece of himself. A mirror. A kind of reflection of his own self. I learnt this from the concept in a book and it's 100% true. 
Though sometimes, the author may write something completely different but if there are a number of writing, the reader can understand and tell the difference : )
