I'm John, I've read quite a bit over the years, a wide variety, from Voltaire to Sach's Rohmer's Fu Manchu. But I'm more influenced by tv and cinema than literature, though it could be said that much of the best of those media are adaptions of books. Perhaps a visual media can add something extra to literature, My attitude to Shakespeare was transformed by seeing a play performed, it made see what a master of story telling he was. But even theatre couldn't match what was achieved when Much ado about Nothing was filmed, with Kenneth Branagh directing. So when I read now I tend to wonder what it would look like if performed on film or tv.
