I am an African American young adult with a deep love for writing and reading fictional books. Though, throughout my years of reading fictional books it behooves me to say that I have only read a handful of fictional books written by African American authors. Being African American this makes me feel uneasy. There are many African American kids, teens and adults with very creative minds, however, they are misguided by a society that has defined them as thugs, soon to be jail inmates, and etc. It pains me to see these great minds go to waste. This is why, through my writing, I want to inspire not just the African American youth but all ethnicities to be creative and most importantly to create.
