The world was on fire
But all she could see
Were the rain drops shining 
Streaming like a river 
Down his pained face

She found a storm in his eyes 
That her love could not quench 
And she saw a soul fly away 
Raised its hands for either 
Heaven or hell, escape only 

Trembling in confusion 
Broken by cruelty hidden in smiles 

She hoped he could 
Find his escape
Although it pained her 
To let go of the cold hand
