Larin learns that “good” and “evil” are not as black and white as she was taught to believe. The war will inevitably reach its apex in a battle that transcends Heaven and Earth, either resulting in the return of glorious Eden, or seeing lost forever under a cloak of irreversible darkness.
"Herald is a beautifully written fantasy with original story-telling and memorable characters. It is imaginative, descriptive and addictively page-turning!"
          - Sonia Faruqi, bestselling author of The Oyster Thief and Project Animal Farm.

Hey strangers! It's been AGES since I've updated this account. For those of you who remember me and to those who loved Children of Fate, I have a new series debuting on Amazon on June 22nd that you may find interesting!

Eighteen-year-old Larin Thompson was a product of abuse and neglect, thinking her life couldn’t get anymore complicated than hiding the scars of her past from the eyes of her friends. But the sudden emergence of strange black wings from her body make her previous difficulties seem ...insignificant.

Meanwhile, Azrael, known as “the Angel of Death” by the humans he has sought to destroy, has found a weapon. One that will shift the balance in a war that has raged in the shadows since the dawn of time. Azrael is awakening of an army of vessels – hybrid soldiers who are neither man nor Angel. By capturing them as they awaken, Azrael hopes to strengthen his dark army, and eventually find and unleash his brother, Lucifer, upon the world.

Larin's unique characteristics separate her from other vessels, and the Divine Council takes notice –archangels whose sole purpose has been to protect man from Azrael's sinister machinations. They come to believe she is the Herald of their lost leaders, the Seraphim - powerful beings who could prevent Lucifer’s dominion upon the world once more.

Amidst the chaos and confusion of her new life, Larin finds comfort in one council member in particular: the Archangel, Michael. Pulled towards each other in a way they cannot understand, Larin finds in Michael both a friend and confidante, and perhaps a missing piece of her heart.

Larin is thrust into an ancient battle between good and evil, one in which she will play a pivotal role in either saving humanity or seeing it destroyed. The choice to rise to her place as Herald, leading the Divine Council to the reawakening of the Seraphim, or accepting an enticing offer from Azrael, is suddenly presented.

Hello friends!

It's been a long time! As many of you have likely noticed, I haven't updated my profile recently and have been off the Wattpad radar. This is largely due to the fact that I've been hard at work on a new series, and I'm so excited to say that I'm just about finished book two! Stay tuned!

The purpose of this post is to actually share some other exciting news. Sonia Faruqi (@Soniafaruqi), Nobel-Laureate endorsed author of Project Animal Farm, has recently released a new Fantasy through Penguin/Pegasus books, entitled The Oyster Thief. The book is extraordinary. If you love mermaids, intricately-designed worlds and epic escapism at its finest, then this is the story for you! Fortunately, Sonia has decided to share the first chapter with a new Wattpad audience. I strongly urge you to have a read, and leave some comments! You can find the Oyster Thief here: https://www.wattpad.com/story/166630052-the-oyster-thief

Sonia is an amazing resource when it comes to writing a breakout bestseller, and this is a fantastic opportunity to reach out to her with your questions and comments.

I hope all of you have been doing really well in the meantime, and I can't wait to get a bit of vacation time over the holidays to catch up on some of your work! I hope your writing continues to be fun and rewarding, and would love to know what you have all been getting up to these days! Drop me a line anytime!

          All the best,

Hey friends! I apologize for not keeping up with Wattpad recently. I'm a lawyer in real life, and it takes up a chunk of my time. However, writing is my passion and I'm throwing myself into it. I've had interest (as you're most likely aware) from a publisher regarding Children of Fate, and I'm still awaiting their decision. I've decided to pull Children of Fate from here for a proper, professional edit as it's a story I believe in and will pursue with all of my heart if the publisher passes, so I need to make sure it's totally up to par for the querying process. I've also completed, in my spare time, a new manuscript. A YA/NA fantasy that's dark and *spoilers* revolves around a world of Angels. It's actually undergoing professional editing at this time and I'm toying with the idea of posting parts of it here for beta feedback. In the interim, I ask that if you love Children of Fate, as many of you do (and I thank you so much for the messages of support), please put in some comments of things you believe need to happen or should be changed so I can take it into consideration. It's because of people like you that I've been so encouraged to continue this pursuit. Thank you so much, and I'm sending all my love to each person who has provided me with feedback and support.

          Best,

          J.B. <3

Thanks to my followers, new and old, for their patience with me as I still await word back respecting my submission of Children of Fate. I've finished another manuscript with an entirely different premise. This one is a dark, urban fantasy that crosses genres. If anyone would be interested in doing a beta swap of portions of your work with mine, feel free to reach out and let me know. I'm being much more selective in sharing this work this time around, but would appreciate a few trusted followers for an extra set of eyes. If you have a long weekend like we do here in Canada, I hope yours is off to a great start!
