Hey, Wattpad peeps! I'm not here much anymore, but if you like free stuff, you can subscribe to my newsletter at jackheathwriter.com for some action-packed -- and sometimes gruesome -- ebooks. Just saying.
About me:
I wrote Hangman, 300 Minutes Of Danger and thirty other action-packed thrillers, which have been shortlisted for multiple awards and published in several languages around the world.
In the course of my research I've trained with firearms, performed street magic, visited morgues and prisons, travelled through Russia and read only books by women for a year. When I'm not touring schools, libraries and festivals around the world, I live in Gunghalin.
My advice for getting published:
1 - Read as diversely and as often as you can. Work out what you like, what you don't, and why.
2 - Write as diversely and as often as you can. Work out what you're good at, what you're not, and why. Don't get too attached to one project.
3 - Join a not-for-profit writing organisation. Do workshops. Get as much feedback on your work as possible. Be willing to write the same story over and over until it's perfect.
4 - Submit your work to a literary agent, ideally one recommended by the writers centre. They won't ever ask you for money - when they sell your book to a publisher, they'll take a cut of 15% or less.
5 - Be aware that this process takes a long time, so make sure you're having fun along the way.
