Grey sheets of rain poured down outside, droplets exploding against the concrete like tiny fireworks and drumming noisily against Chantelle’s carbon-fibre armour. A headache was taking shape. She had already been awake for twenty-eight hours when the dispatcher assigned her to the case.
          
          She popped a Soothe and a Focus into her mouth, and turned her face to the sky, letting the slightly acidic water pool in the back of her throat. Then she swallowed the mixture and grimaced.
          
          Her mind became as clear as freshly-printed glass. She had been doing this backwards. Looking at who Poken knew, instead of who knew him.
