What happened at the end of Annie's scene will become clear in the next chapter. Annie wasn't focusing on Jared right then, so it would've sounded really out of character and strange if she'd noticed whether or not he had the docs with him.
It was only justified, i mean come on. You're really good, just sayin. Thanks to you, i might start writing my own works :)
