Hello all,

As my novel is now less than a month away from being on shelves, I thought this would be a good opportunity to give you a chance to see if it's your cup of tea or not (Who am I kidding? It totally is!) With that in mind, I have released the first two chapters of the book on this page for free. If you like it, leave comments, tell your friends, ask your local bookstore to order you a copy, and build me an army worthy of Mordor. Wait, skip that last one. In any case, I hope you enjoy! And now that I think of it, you can go ahead and build me an army if you're so inclined.

Hey "all," good news and bad news. I'll start with the bad news. The bad is that I had to take down The World My Enemy from this page. The good news is why. The reason is it's going to be published in an anthology by Curiosity Quills, the people publishing the novel it's a prequel to! So hey, don't feel too bad! You'll be able to read it again soon, and help further my career by doing so!

In case you got lost and accidentally found this page, or you're a clamoring fanboy in search of more Jesse-related stuff, check out the new promotional art for "The World, My Enemy." I think it's pretty awesome myself. Artwork by Streetlight Graphics.

For your reading pleasure (and by your, I am probably speaking only to myself as I have as yet zero followers), I submit the short story, "The World My Enemy." It is the origin story of a mad scientist, Otto Von Trapezoid, who is the subject of a novel I've written. Otto is a tough nut. He's mean, cranky, misanthropic, and would gladly obliterate you with a death ray if it helped him to rule the world. Yet underneath, I think, he is oddly innocent, and in the face of the world around him, I can't say I find all of his responses to be irrational. This is the story in total, and in time, I may release more origin stories for other characters in the novel. In the meantime, I hope some of you come to exist, and then proceed to enjoy the work.

It seems appropriate that I say something, even though as of now, much like a lonely cult leader, I have no followers. Truth is, I'm not great at this social media game because I'd rather be writing than showing pictures of my dinner or spouting half-baked political philosophies. However, as this is a place for writers and storytellers of varying types, I figure it might suit me to be here, and find some kindred spirits as well as read some halfway decent stories. I will be posting some of my short story works here in the hope that when the alien overlords come to eradicate civilization, someone will find my works and assume they're creation myths and thus some sort of religious texts. Hmm, that's the second time in this missive I've referred to myself in some sort of culty way. Perhaps it signifies something, but then, perhaps not. More to come soon.
