Jessica Rydill is a Fantasy author from Bath. More Mary Shelley than Jane Austen, she fell in the love with the fantasy genre after discovering Tolkien as a child. Her work has a Victorian steampunk bias but has also been strongly influenced by her love of the Middle Ages. Ghost stories and myth play an important part together with the folklore of Russia, Judaica, and Europe.
Jessica's first two books, Children of the Shaman and The Glass Mountain, were published to critical acclaim in the Noughties. Her latest book, Malarat, is a blend of steampunk and magic with mediaeval themes and technology. A demon attacks a steam train and shamans fight the swordsmen of the Inquisition.
Jessica likes to read books about the Middle Ages (especially the 15th century), etc
