Sins of Our Mothers was my written attempt at a kind-of self-therapy. After the release of this work, many of my readers asked how I managed to survive and later thrive, having gone through such trauma. The answer is simple, yet complex.

Simply, it is the drive or instinct to adapt and survive. Survival and perseverance are highly logical choices. That is, there is a conscious, analytical, systematic process of thought that displaces the emotional liability of the victim.

I have spent the past eight years trying to heal. I learned about psychology, and how the human mind and psyche function. I earned by Bachelor's degree in the Psychology, graduating with honors. This was an elucidating experience, providing a base knowledge on the case study that was ME.

I began journaling dreams, visions, memories and putting the pieces of these puzzles together with what I remembered. As the past fully revealed itself, I understood. I understood me, and the reasons I thought, acted, and held the values I held.

I wrote my story because I wanted my children to understand the rationale of my experiences; to know how these impacted my decisions and actions that led to their own experiences. I wanted them to see the cycle of their mother, of my mother, of her mother...in the hopes that they could break the cycle and break free from the chains of our sins.

Scandals of the Sins of Our Mothers is the rationalization of my own mother and grandmother. It tells their stories in a way that connects the generations and the inherited sins or transgressions. It is the raw and visceral truths of being a daughter, a mother, a woman that ignite internal passions and drives. It is their stories of their quests for love and belonging in a world where women are not so valued.

Writing is a cure, a therapy, an antidote to the painful memories as they leave the soul and engender the page.
