Howdy! My name is Joe Hickey, I have a Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing and have been self-publishing middle grade and young adult fiction for over ten years. In 2018 I FINALLY got my Secret Seekers Society (Harry Potter meets Stranger Things) published through a press in Texas. Very proud moment! 



I have had a crazy wild journey through the world of writing and publication and would love to share my knowledge with young writers. I have mentored young authors in the past and visit schools to discuss not only the art of writing, but publication both traditional and indie. 



More about me? I love the paranormal! Which is why I write so much about monsters, spirits, and cryptozoology. For about five years, I ran a local paranormal research team here in Michigan, called MIParanormal. It was a blast and really taught me a lot about what i enjoy writing about. 



I also love traditional fantasy and just about anything YA/MG. 



I balance my time writing and being a content creator. I stream video games and do videos on mixer, microsoft's version of twitch. Lots of times I talk about books and writing while i play video games and hang out with my community of awesome motivated and positive people.
