I caught the fantasy bug as a child. I grew up reading Narnia, Prydain, and The Neverending Story (yes it was a book first). By the time I was through high school I had gone through all of Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber, The Lord of the Rings, and most of the works by Heinlein, Dickson, Asimov, Arthur C Clark, and many others.

Spurred on by the imaginations of these greats I started writing my own stories in my twenties, because I figured if they could do it, then I could too. I was wrong. So wrong. I wrote horrible, terrible trash. It wasn't until I was introduced to the lessons in Jim Butcher's blog, Brandon Sanderson's online writing course, and writingexcuses.com that I started realizing the truth. Writing is the easiest thing in the world. Writing well is the hardest.

It took many, many years of study, world building, and research, and so far I have coaxed out one book, the first in an exciting trilogy. The plan is for that trilogy to kick off many other books in the same universe, including stories about ninjas, quadriplegic heroes, old lady new kids, magic, science, religion, and philosophy. Follow this page to be alerted when that happens.

When I am not using my God-like powers to create universes, I live in Kansas City, MO with my wife, two cats, and a turtle of indeterminate gender.
