I am married with two adult children. Professionally, I am a business consultant and aspiring author. I am also a Stage IV cancer survivor - at least so far! I write about my battle with terminal cancer in Mortal Musings.
I have been an avid Sci-Fi fan all my life. I have always yearned to publish a book and eventually become an established author. My first effort started in seventh grade. It reached 500 hand-written pages by the end of the year -- almost all written during various classes.
I started writing my first book, Prime Directive: Earth, over 20 years ago. I modeled two of the lead characters after my children. The problem was that they were 8 and 11 when I finished the first draft. When I later decided to do a major rewrite, they were older so I had to change the characters as well. But I was not able to get it published. It sat on my hard drive for years and years, and many moves. When I got cancer, I became more determined to publish. It still took me a couple of years as work and life kept getting in the way. I can only hope that I can achieve enough success at writing that I can devote more and more time to it as it is truly a labor of love.
