To my dearest fellow citizens of the United States of America that are descended from the continent of Africa,
I honestly do understand your plight. Honestly and truly!
Please, I beg of you, do not hold me personally accountable for the enslavement of your people. I have done extensive research (as a college history major) on my own family’s genealogy. No where in my family tree did we own slaves! Feel free to e-mail personally and I will gladly send you all of my documents stating such facts. My e-mail is LLHartley@LLHartley.com) In fact, my own ancestors that came to this continent came as slaves from Scotland and Ireland. My Scottish ancestors were indentured slaves and as for my Irish ancestors… well… that certainly is another story. When they (my Irish ancestors) came here to this country and sought employment they were met with signs in many windows that NO DRUNKEN MONKEYS NEED APPLY.
That terminology came about because after many centuries of oppression by the country of England. In those centuries England made it illegal for ALL Irish people to be educated. They could no longer do many things. In fact, all they had left was to drink and sing. Hence came the bagpipes, song, dance and drinking.
After many years of poor treatment in this “new world” my ancestors made some pretty smart decisions. They chose to make changes from within! They became peace officers, eventually lawyers and judges.
You too can make the same changes from within by being registered voters, voting, getting educated and running for numerous political offices where you reside. Forget the instant gratification of drugs and money. Please, look at the big picture as to what is best for ALL. The needs of the many truly do outweigh the needs of the one!
