Honestly, as long as the plot stays true to characters. As in their personality traits etc. I don’t mind the change of a plot, if anything I do it all the time with my own fan fictions because i genuinely only ever read / write a book based on characters not their world.
^-^ I know that a lot of people have different views on it though
